Ancient Wisdom for Today’s Leaders Mindset
In the fast-paced mindset world, ever-disrupting world of entrepreneurship, the pursuit of success often leads to anxiety and burnout. But, what if true fulfillment doesn’t come from chasing every opportunity — but from mastering a deeper state of mindset and purpose? Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2, Verse 72 delivers this profound insight, showing leaders an uncommon blueprint for enduring achievement and inner peace.
The Verse
Sanskrit
एषा ब्राह्मी स्थितिः पार्थ नैनां प्राप्य विमुह्यति।
स्थित्वास्यामन्तकालेऽपि ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृच्छति।।2.72।।
Transliteration eṣā brāhmī sthitiḥ pārtha naināṁ prāpya vimuhyati sthitvāsyām anta-kāle ’pi brahma-nirvāṇam ṛcchati
Translation: "This is the state of Brahman, O Arjuna. Attaining this, one is not deluded. Being established therein, even at the moment of death, one attains final liberation." — Bhagavad Gita 2.72
The ‘Brahmi State’: Clarity, Equanimity, and True Mastery
This verse summarizes Krishna’s grand teaching to Arjuna — the description of the supreme state of consciousness where a person is unwavering, regardless of external circumstances.
What does this mean for entrepreneurs and leaders?
1. Ultimate Clarity of Purpose in your Mindset
Reaching the Brahmi state means achieving unwavering clarity. Entrepreneurs in this state are immune to confusion (“naināṁ prāpya vimuhyati”) — they see their vision with steadfast focus, despite setbacks or distractions.
2. Freedom From Delusion from Mindset
Chasing external rewards – money, status, trends – can cloud judgment. This verse teaches that true mastery is about knowing your “why” and freeing yourself from the delusion that fulfillment lies outside of you.
3. Resilience, Even in Crisis
“Even at the final hour” — the teaching is crystal clear: if you remain rooted in this higher wisdom, no crisis, not even the biggest failures, can shake your mindset, peace or purpose. Resilience springs not from denial, but from being anchored.
4. Visionary Detachment in mindset
Leaders in the Brahmi state skillfully detach from ego, outcomes, and public opinions. This is not apathy, but a focus on what creates real value and long-term impact.
Practical Leadership Insights
Here’s how entrepreneurs can harness this timeless wisdom:
A. Anchor Decisions in Core Values
Let your mission and key principles guide you where data and trends cannot. Purpose outlasts profit.
B. Normalize Uncertainty in our Mindset
Accept that you can’t control every result; focus on deliberate action and continuous improvement, not on the illusion of “perfect outcomes.”
C. Build Reflective Practices
Dedicate time to self-reflection, meditation, or journaling. This strengthens clarity and emotional balance — the hallmarks of the Brahmi state.
D. Lead with Authenticity
Operate with a sense of service, not ego. Share credit, empower your team, and willingly let go of recognition.
E. Leave a Legacy, Not Just a Business
Entrepreneurs and leaders with this mindset create organizations and cultures that endure, inspiring others long after they’ve gone.
From Hustle to Harmony
The ultimate fulfillment for an entrepreneur isn’t just in the unicorn status or the exit, but in achieving a harmonious inner state—poised, clear, and free—no matter what happens. Bhagavad Gita 2.72 reminds us: when leaders master themselves, they inspire others, create resilient organizations, and leave an indelible impact on the world.
